Karkloof Spa is easily accessible by road or air, from Pietermaritzburg’s Oribi Airport or Durban International Airport. Transfers can be arranged on request. This KwaZulu-Natal spa in South Africa is situated in the Karkloof Valley.

This destination spa follows an eco design using recycled bricks and natural materials such as thatching. Living roofs are constructed with soil and grass so that small animals can graze. The environmental friendly ethos extends through to all the treatments done at the spa.

Karkloof Spa is set in a 3 500 hectare wildlife reserve with a number of dams and 3 rivers. Guests can enjoy their spa treatments surrounded by the beautiful African bush. Guests can explore the misty forests and thickets, open plains and riverine valleys in this beautiful island.

The reserve is progressively managed for the benefit of all, and the rejuvenation of the land and animal habitats complements the rejuvenation of your body at the spa. Disease-free Buffalo, Black and White Rhino, Giraffe, Zebra and Wildebeest roam the property as well as other wildlife.

• Durban to Karkloof 101km (63 miles)

From Durban International Airport (1hour and 20 minutes drive)

Once through the main airport exit gates, travel past the petrol station and turn left over the highway. At the traffic lights, turn right, but keep in the left hand lane
Drive straight across the next set of traffic lights and immediately thereafter, take the left exit onto the N2 highway towards Durban
Stay on this highway until the turn off N3 Pietermaritzburg
Take the off ramp into the left hand lane and proceed toward Pietermaritzburg. Stay on the N3 highway for about 45 minutes
In the Pietermaritzburg area, take the Exit 81 (Church St / Greytown).

From Oribi Airport, Pietermaritzburg (30 minutes drive)

Upon exiting Oribi Airport, turn right at the stop sign. Travel straight on this road for a few kilometres until reaching a T-junction and traffic light, there is the Golden Horse Casino straight ahead, turn right at the traffic light
Go through this traffic light then take the left off ramp onto the N3 highway toward Harrismith Travel along the highway then take Exit 81 (Church St / Greytown)

From Exit 81 on the N3 highway to Karkloof Spa

After taking Exit 81 drive to the traffic lights and turn right crossing over the highway towards Greytown, continue straight through the next 2 traffic lights. The North Way Mall Super Spar is ahead of you
Just before the traffic lights, take the slip road off to the left - this is Otto’s Bluff Road. Stay on Otto’s Bluff Road for about 20km (12 miles), some parts of the road are gravel
After crossing Morton’s drift, turn off to the left at the sign post for Karkloof Spa
Travel along on this road for about 2km (just over a mile) to reach Gate 7 on the left hand side
