The Sundays River Valley is home to the famous Addo Elephants that once roamed the area freely, as well as miles of evergreen citrus trees that bear fruit all winter and fragrance the air when they blossom in spring.
Addo Elephant Park in the Eastern Cape is one of the most diverse conservation areas in the world. The park is a 120 000 hectare marine reserve with a number of offshore islands and 5 of South Africa's 7 biomes or distinct vegetation regions.
The Sundays Valley has a temperate to warm climate with an annual rainfall of 450 mm occurring evenly throughout the year. Summers are hot with many sunny days, while winter is a chilly period. This area is world renowned for its citrus fruit production and is South Africa's largest producer of lemons.
Directions to Woodall Country House and Spa
The nearest airport is in the city of Port Elizabeth, which is a 45 minute drive from Woodhall and the Addo Elephant Park in the Eastern Cape. Airport and local transfers can be arranged.
By Road
When travelling from Port Elizabeth you take the N2 north in the direction of Grahamstown for about 15km (9.3 miles).
Turn left off the N2 onto the R335 (signposted as Motherwell, Markman, St Georges Strand - there is also a sign for Addo Elephant Park)
Travel for about 45km (28 miles) to Addo village. Continue through village on R335 in direction of Park for about 5km (3.1 miles), (you will pass a Crocodile ranch on the Left Hand side)
Turn left off R335 at Woodall Sign onto a gravel road
Turn immediately right again in front of Elephant House Guest House. Continue on road for about 1.3km (0.8 miles) to Woodall
